Note* The sound of the SD2, the SD3, the SD4, the SD5 and the Midjay Plus are the same.
Here is a great example:
Chase Ellis is a superb musician and sequencing artist. The following song, "Another November", was composed, sequenced and performed by him. He sent it to me to hear and I prevailed upon him to allow me to record it using the SD2 and the SD4. Here are the full length versions. Chase uses the SD2 for his sequences.
Chase Ellis is an award winning composer.

Style Demos by Prince Ajua Alemanji, known to Ketron friends as A.J.
An explaination of the following demos:
This is what you get right out of the box with no tweaking, EQing, rebalancing or otherwise. There be more demos coming, but for right now here is a great idea of what the SD5 will do immediately.
When people create demos, they usually tweak and balance and record a MIDI file and make additional corrections. That is not the case here. No overdubbing, sequencing or anything of the sort.
I personally want to thank A.J. for taking the time out of his busy day to create these. I have listened to these over several times and I keep hearing things that keyboards just don't do!
It appears that the SD5 has a host of great new styles.
Please take the time to read the comments by A.J. in the middle column to get a feel for what the SD5 is doing.
16 Beat Style
16Beat:- Now we’re talking!! Listen to the articulation the Bass player has during the intro. Disregard my sax but wait … the great RIFF kicks in at 00:51 – 01:23 and as I play nothing, it adds more and more and … when I add the sax, things get a little quiet.
8 Beat
8Beat:-Good Electric Piano, Live Drums, Live Guitar and Bass Riff starts at 00:50 – 01:22. Nothing is being played during Riff so all you hear is the SD5 improvisation.
Blues
Blues:- Listen to the Guitar and New Sax! Also listen to the Natural bass with Smart 7th technology. Riff starts at 01:17 – 02:02. Here, I play some sax lines with the RIFF.
Country
Country:- Nothing far fetched, but with the new violin and guitars and guitar effects, you would think Don Williams was sitting right there. The new steel guitar is also a plus.
Cumbia
Cumbia:- This is authentic Cumbia. Listen to the live percussion. Listen to the guitar at 00:33. Riff starts at 00:49 – 01:-05. Again I didn’t play anything during the Riff.
Dawson
Dawson:- Something you would hear on the radio or watch on TV, but when the new Ketron Guitars starts during the intro and at 00:26, Bass slide with fills at 00:50, you will definitely feel elevated.
Disco
Disco:- The real thing here is the authentic bass player. With a little synth and trumpets on the Right, I just added some ‘color’ to the music. Live percussion and drum loops. Listen to bass as of 01:19.
Gentle
Gentle:- Many have said Ketron is ‘harsh/ too in your face” with styles, so for them, we have some great laid-back styles such as this one. Smart 7th bass again, natural guitar strumming and beautiful organ at 01:16.
Gospel
Gospel:- Now this is something different with killer organs and uplifting Bass. Listen to the Bass Slide at 0:25. Riff starts at 01:11 – 01:47. See how realistic it is? I don’t play anything here during the Riff so watch the RIFF get more and more interesting by itself.
Jazz
Jazz:- Not the best Jazz player, but trying to give you an idea of the new audio loops plus the new Organ sounds (Lesslie on/off). Riff starts at 01:05 – 01:38. I add some organ while the Riff plays through to give you a general idea of what you can do when the Riff takes over.
Merengue
Merengue:- Not completed yet (some minor tweeking still needed) , but this is just to give you an idea of the new guitar and new audio loop and bass!
Roots Reggae
Reggae:- I was trying to be creative here with the new “Da” voice. Interesting Drum fill and break. Riff starts at 00:48 – 01:12 with me adding some sax lines … yep, I love the sax!!
Slow Rock
SlowRock:- Well, not much can be said here, but you must hear to believe.
Soca Calypso
Soca:- My favorite, why? Well, I wr …. Anyway, this is the best demo with regards to the new guitar and RIFF. In this style, you hear how I change various chord changes until 01:08 when the RIFF kicks in. I don’t play anything during the Riff (so you know). The Riff plays on and adds parts, until 02:00.

Ketron Comparison between X, XD, SD and
Midjay.
I have had dozens and more likely hundreds of requests
to do a comparison between the various Ketron models.
"How does the XD sound compared to the SD or how does
the Midjay compare to the old X1?"
Here for the very first time you can test it yourself.
I have chosen 9 very well sequenced MIDI files and
recorded them on 4 different Ketron models. The models
I used were: Midjay, SD1, XD3 and even though the X
series is discontinued, I used my X4 for comparison.
All the MIDI files have appeared on various Ketron
Hard Drives.
I was careful to make sure all volumes are the same
and all reverbs were set the same. Any differences
you hear are purely the samples in the instruments.
Happy listening.

Sounds (mp3 downloads) Note* The SD1 is no longer available. These sounds are for reference only.
These
are the files that came on the SD1 demo CD and while there
are some good files here I do not feel that you even get a
glimmer of what the SD1 can do by listening to these tracks.
The SD1 is much better than what you hear. There are so many
styles omitted, but you can call me and I'll tell you more.
These files are all mpg3 files and are quite large. If you
are on a slow modem the downloads could take a while.
*Note:
These files may or may not play in Netscape Browsers.
